Often, bused students find alternative ways to school and we want to ensure we know the whereabouts of every student to ensure their safety and well-being. Knowing who is supposed to be at school will allow school office staff to best ensure all students are accounted for. Students are asked to ensure they use the Main Entrance doors and report to the Office if arriving after the 9:15 bell.The reporting tool has two options regarding transportation:<ul class="editor-list-ul"><li value="1" class="editor-listitem" style="text-align: start;">Inclement weather (all transportation types and walkers) for any inclement weather days when your student will not be attending school.</li><li value="2" class="editor-listitem" style="text-align: start;">Transportation (not weather-related) for any non-weather-related transportation reason when your student will not be attending school (e.g., when a bus is cancelled due to a driver shortage).</li></ul>We recognize this is a change in practice but one we are making to ensure student safety and well-being. Students will engage in friendly competition while learning curling terminology, scoring, and more. Custom scoreboards and mini curling lanes will turn the gym into an iceless curling rink ready for FUN!We are asking families for a donation of $2.00 so that everyone at the school can experience an introduction to curling. Please visit School Day to donate. If you have any puzzles or games good for ages 4 to age 12 with all their pieces we would love to take them off your hands. On the included poster is a list of board game and card game ideas some teachers were interested in but we are happy with any games you may have at home collecting dust. If you have other items at home you think might be a good fit for indoor recess entertainment don't hesitate to reach out to parent council or Amber Murray. </h3><h3 class="editor-heading-h3" dir="ltr">You can send items in with your child at any time or drop them off to the school on February 3rd between 3:30-6.</h3><hr><h2 class="editor-heading-h2" dir="ltr">Report Weather or Transportation Related Absence</h2>All parents/guardians are asked to report their student’s absence regardless of the reason, including during bus cancellations. Often, bused students find alternative ways to school and we want to ensure we know the whereabouts of every student to ensure their safety and well-being. Knowing who is supposed to be at school will allow school office staff to best ensure all students are accounted for. Students are asked to ensure they use the Main Entrance doors and report to the Office if arriving after the 9:15 bell.The reporting tool has two options regarding transportation:<ul class="editor-list-ul"><li value="1" class="editor-listitem" style="text-align: start;">Inclement weather (all transportation types and walkers) for any inclement weather days when your student will not be attending school.</li><li value="2" class="editor-listitem" style="text-align: start;">Transportation (not weather-related) for any non-weather-related transportation reason when your student will not be attending school (e.g., when a bus is cancelled due to a driver shortage).</li></ul>We recognize this is a change in practice but one we are making to ensure student safety and well-being. About Our School

Bienvenue à École Maple Elementary School , home of the Majors. We are a Kindergarten to Grade 6 school offering French Immersion and English programming to students in Kingston East. Our three-storey school was opened in 2013 and includes more than 34 classrooms, a variety of special purpose and resource rooms, a library/makerspace and 6,000-square-foot gymnasium. Our school is equipped with shared technology in every classroom (iPads and Chromebooks), allowing access to all. Our building features green construction to reduce energy use and waste production. The overall environmental footprint is reduced due in part to high efficiency heating/cooling systems, low-flow water fixtures and other sustainable-focused improvements.

Message to Families - February 11, 2026

Dear Families, The Limestone District School Board is deeply saddened to learn of the horrific events that took place yesterday impacting a school and community in Tumbler Ridge, British Columbia.  No words can adequately express our condolences to those affected. Our hearts are with the students, families, and community members who have been directly impacted by this awful event. While there are many national and international events that affect people on a daily or weekly basis, events impacting schools have an impact on everyone attached to schools and education. Significant events like these, that are in the public eye and heavily featured on news and social media, can have an impact on students and families in different ways. These impacts may look different for each person and be impacted by their source(s) of information and/or media coverage. We are here to offer support. The board’s Educational Services team is available to support students and families as needed. Educational Services has prepared the following tips to help families support students during this time: <ul class="editor-list-ul"><li value="1" class="editor-listitem" style="text-align: start;">Recognize that students may become concerned that something bad will happen to themselves, family, or friends. Explain that safety measures are in place and reassure them that you and other adults will take care of them. </li><li value="2" class="editor-listitem" style="text-align: start;">If your student is not focused on what happened, avoid dwelling on it or having detailed adult conversations in front of younger students. However, be available to answer questions to the best of your ability. Young students may not be able to express themselves verbally. Pay attention to changes in their behaviour or social interactions. </li><li value="3" class="editor-listitem" style="text-align: start;">For some, limiting exposure to media coverage or other sources of information may be important, particularly when social media platforms contain significant amounts of misinformation or disinformation. Images of a horrific event can become overwhelming, especially if watched repetitively. Young students may not be able to distinguish between images on television or their screen, and their personal reality. For older students who choose to watch the news or scroll social media stories related to the event, be available to discuss what they see and to help put it into perspective. </li><li value="4" class="editor-listitem" style="text-align: start;">Be aware of your own needs. Do not ignore your own feelings of anxiety and concern or anger. Talking to friends, family members, and mental health counsellors can help.
