Hello Maple Families,
We are so excited to welcome everyone back to Maple for the start of a brand-new school year! There is something special about this time of year—the energy of students reconnecting with friends, staff preparing welcoming classrooms, and families helping children get ready for new routines, new learning, and new opportunities. We hope everyone has had a restful and enjoyable summer and is feeling ready for the year ahead.
A very warm welcome to our returning students, staff, and families, and an extra-special welcome to those who are joining the Maple community for the first time. We are thrilled to have you with us and look forward to building a school year filled with curiosity, kindness, connection, and lots of Maple spirit. We cannot wait to see our classrooms, hallways, and schoolyard come alive again with smiling faces, laughter, and the buzz of learning!
On Tuesday, classroom teachers will be sending welcome emails to families, sharing information about the first day of school and lineup spot locations. On the first day of school, teachers will be outside to greet and assist students in getting to their line-up spots. As always, starting class placements are subject to change if actual enrolment numbers should require school reorganization.

- We celebrate and honour our military families every Friday by wearing RED clothing. It's a small act to say thank you and we appreciate all you do for our community and country!
- In Limestone, students in grades 1-6 are not permitted to use Cell Phones during the school day (they must be on silent mode and out of sight if brought to school), this includes during recess/nutrition breaks. If you need to communicate with your child please contact the office to have a message passed along.

Medical Plans of Care
If your student requires a medical plan (i.e., Asthma, Anaphylaxis, Diabetes, etc.) or is required to take medication at school, please submit the required paperwork as soon as possible. Plans of Care and the associated paperwork can be emailed to maple@limestone.on.ca. More information regarding Plans of Care is available on the LDSB website.
Triboard Busing Information
2026-2027 Busing Details Available in the Portal
Bus routes were finilazed on August 24, 2026 and student details are available in the Student Portal.
Adjustments are still being made as Triboard continues to process applications. All routes were frozen on August 24, 2026 and remain that way through the first week of school. The next update to bus routes will occur on Tuesday, September 8th.
Families can still apply for a later start date. Families will need to make alternative travel arrangements for students to get to school until the “start date” indicated in the Student Portal. Requests to switch buses or stop locations will not be reviewed until late September or early October.
Keep informed of late and cancelled buses by visiting the TriBoard website portal. Click on the Delays and Cancellations to check the status of your child's bus.

Crossing Guard Information
Crossing guards will be in place to help students and families travel safely to and from school. A new crossing guard will also be at Highway 15 and Rose Abbey Drive/Waterside Way starting on the first day of school, September 2, 2026.
Highway 15 and Rose Abbey Drive/Waterside Way crossing guard times:
- Morning: 8:40–9:15 a.m.
- Afternoon: 3:25–4:00 p.m.
Families are reminded to follow the directions of crossing guards, use designated crossings, and drive with extra care around the school. Thank you for helping keep our students safe.
Reporting A Student Absence
Please use the Safe Arrival system to report your child's absence; do not call the school to report an absence. If your child is going to be absent from learning, please ensure you use the Safe Arrival system to report the absence. If your child will be late, please report a full day absence and then we will sign them in when they arrive. You cannot indicate a half day absence.
How to report your absence:
1. Toll-free telephone
- Call 1-855-257-9349 toll-free to report an absence using the automated phone system.
2. School Messenger App
- Use your mobile device to download and install the free SchoolMessenger blue app from the Apple App Store or the Google Play Store, the SchoolMessenger website portal, or from within the LDSB mobile app.
- The first time you use the app, you must select Sign Up to create your account. Please ensure you use the same email address your student’s school has on file. If you do not use that same email address, you will not be able to create an account, or may not be able to see the "Attendance" option. You may have already created an account when we introduced the Communicate broadcast system.
- Select Attendance, then select Report an Absence and follow the prompts.
3. SchoolMessenger SafeArrival Website Portal
- Visit the SchoolMessenger website portal.
- The first time you use the app, you must select Sign Up to create your account. Please ensure you use the same email address your student’s school has on file. If you do not use that same email address, you will not be able to create an account, or may not be able to see the "Attendance" option. You may have already created an account when we introduced the Communicate broadcast system.

SCHOOL-DAY
Limestone DSB uses an application called School-Day to allow families to complete permission forms and make payments for school-related events, products, and activities easily and securely online. Parent/Guardians create an account in School-Day and to link their student(s). Visit the School-Day website portal.

Student Accident Insurance
The Limestone District School Board requires that students have student accident insurance in order to participate in extra-curricular activities. Before students will be allowed to participate in these events, parents/guardians must confirm their own coverage for items not covered under the Provincial Health Plan, or purchase an insurance plan.
Each year a Student Accident Insurance Plan is made available to all students on a voluntary basis. The plan provides protection for dental damage due to accidents, fracture benefits and other important coverage, which are not covered under the Provincial Health Plan. Some parents may have dental plan coverage through their workplace but many of these plans are limited in one way or another, while this accident coverage is not. You should compare plans to make sure you have the coverage you need or desire.
In making this plan available, the Board wishes to make its position clear in the matter of insurance. Under the Education Act, the Board is not permitted to provide insurance coverage for accidents to pupils, therefore, the Board recommends consideration of this plan to any parent who wishes to obtain this kind of insurance. Although the policy has all the advantages of a group plan, it is essentially a direct contract between the parent and the insurance company.
A family plan is also available for three or more students which permits the enrolment of students in the family who are attending schools outside the jurisdiction of this Board as long as at least one child in the family is attending a school within the Limestone District School Board.
If you wish to subscribe to this insurance, you may do so by completing the form handed out to students the first week of school and mailing it directly to Reliable Life Insurance Company in the stamped envelope provided. Or, for your convenience, you may purchase directly online at www.insuremykids.com.
School Trips and Volunteers
Throughout the year, we may ask for parent/guardian volunteers on school trips or for various classroom and school activities. The wait time for obtaining a CPIC (background check with vulnerable sector screening) can be lengthy. As such, if you think you would be willing to assist with a trip or school event in the future, please consider obtaining a CPIC with vulnerable sector screening completed, beforehand. Human Development and Sexual Health
As part of LDSB's commitment to ongoing transparency and communication with families, please follow the link to Form 325-D on the LDSB website. It outlines the Human Development and Sexual Health curriculum expectations for Grades 1-8. Families can request to have their child or children exempted from instruction related to Human Development and Sexual Health expectations by completing and returning an exemption form for each child (Form 325-B) five school days before the start of instruction. Prior to instruction, your child's classroom teacher will inform parents/guardians when the expectations related to the Human Development and Sexual Health expectations in Strand D will be covered. For a more detailed overview of this process, please refer to Administrative Procedure 325: Exemption From Human Development and Sexual Health Instruction (listed under the Policies and Procedures section of the LDSB website), or contact the school.
Self-Identification
School board self-identification is based on any degree of Indigenous ancestry (Status, Non-Status, Métis citizenship, etc.). Self-identification can be withdrawn at any time.
