Student Drop Off/Bus Safety

Limestone Learning Foundation

Drop-off/Pick-up Procedures

It is important that parents and guardians adhere to parking regulations and other drop-off and pick-up routines as set out at each school to ensure the safety of all students. Parents/guardians who are dropping off and picking up children in vehicles should not block or impede bus loading and unloading zones. Please adhere to posted signs at your school.

Motorists should:

  • watch for children on the roads, some of whom may be walking or cycling to school;
  • avoid parking or idling in bus zones;
  • avoid parking too close to a marked school crossing; and
  • enter and exit driveways and parking lots slowly and carefully particularly when reversing.

Arriving late: If students arrive late to school, they must check in at the school/attendance office. Parents/guardians need to sign in elementary students.

Leaving early: When it is necessary for a student to leave school during the day, a note is required from a parent or guardian. The note must be given to the office or attendance secretary. Elementary students should be signed out at the office. If students are over the age of 18, they are permitted to sign themselves out. Parents/guardians coming to pick up students  are asked to wait at the main office. If necessary, office staff will alert your child’s classroom. These measures are in place to help keep all students safe and minimize disruptions to learning.

Bus Safety

Tri-Board Student Transportation Services Inc. may provide transportation to and from school for eligible students of the Limestone District School Board. School buses under contract by the Board are an extension of the school system and the standards set by the Board and its schools apply to the school bus. Students are expected to conduct themselves in a courteous and respectful manner at all times, and obey the driver’s instructions. Since the Board is responsible for the comfort and safety of all students who ride on school buses, students whose conduct endangers the safety or interferes with the comfort of others may have their riding privileges revoked.

Please review school bus safety rules with your child to reinforce the importance of ensuring all students are kept safe on and around the school bus.

It is important for all parents/guardians/caregivers to know your child’s route number, time of pick up and drop off, and the name and number of the school bus operator for your child’s route in the event your child should leave something on the bus or in the event of an emergency. Please ensure your child is dressed appropriately for the weather, buses can be delayed due to inclement weather, traffic, road conditions etc.

The Limestone District School Board is situated on traditional territories of the Anishinaabe & Haudenosaunee.
